ISOCARP Regional Project Offices (RPOs)

ISOCARP project offices are an initiative that builds upon the strengths of ISOCARP and extends the international relevance of the society. The project offices are set up in collaboration with local and regional authorities to improve ISOCARP‘s capacity to develop programmes in different world regions.

Sitges Project Office (SPO)
In December 2004, ISOCARP Past President Alfonso Vegara (President of the Fundacion Metropoli/Madrid, Spain) initiated the founding of first ISOCARP Project Office (Sitges, Spain). The contract signed by Alfonso Vegara and the Mayor of Sitges, Mr Jordi Baijet I Vidal, stated that each year, preferably around World Town Planning Day, an Urban Planning Advisory Team will come to Sitges to investigate an urban planning theme relevant to Sitges.  
ISOCARP also commited to explore, with the City Hall of Sitges, possible additional programmes of collaboration aimed at encouraging creativity in the municipality and its international projection. These projects or programmes, to be coordinated from the ISOCARP office in Sitges, could be Summer Courses, Young Planners Workshop, Mayors Workshop, Publications etc, that  support the progressive transformation of Sitges with respect to urban innovation and international projection.

Opening of the Cancun Project Office (CPO)
On 8 November 2008, World Town Planning Day, the opening of a Project Office in Cancun, Mexico, was officially signed in Sitges, Spain.
