After Rotterdam (NL), Durban (SA), Portland (Oregon, USA), and this year’s Congress in Bodø (NOR) we move a bit south- and eastwards for the 55th ISOCARP Congress to Jakarta in Indonesia. A city which is not only the capital of Indonesia but – including the metropolitan area – the second most populous urban area in the world.
Furthermore, this year’s conference theme of Climate Change Planning relates directly to Jakarta; one of the global urban areas most at risk. The metropolis is sinking by more than 5 cm a year while the sea level rises and extreme climate events put additional pressure on its residents.
We invite you to join us at the 55th ISOCARP Congress and learn more about the city, its culture and people! For some impressions, watch the Welcome Video of the Local Organising Committee and stay tuned for more information on the Congress theme, organisation, and important dates!
