This international event is jointly organised by ACUUS (Associated Research Centers for the Urban Underground Space), the Geotechnical Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and Hong Kong Geotechnical Society (HKGES). It is a 3-day event comprising plenary keynote lectures, scientific presentations and technical tours. The theme of the 2018 Conference is “Integrated Underground Solutions for Compact Metropolitan Cities” covering multi-disciplinary subjects that are involved in exploiting underground space solutions for sustainable city development. The conference is graced with many distinguished speakers, including Prof. QIAN Qihu (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering) from China, Mr Eng Hwee LIM (Chief Executive Officer of Urban Redevelopment Authority) from Singapore, Mr Raymond Lee (Director of Planning) from Hong Kong, Prof. David Mangin (Co-partner of SEURA Architects) from France, Mr Ilkka Vähäaho (Chairman of the Finnish Tunnelling Association International Activity Group) from Finland and Ms Sanja Zlatanic (Senior Vice President of HNTB Corporation) from USA.
The conference will also include an expert panel discussion, with Mr Eng Hwee LIM from Singapore, Mr Ilkka Vähäaho from Finland, Mr W K Pun (Head of the Geotechnical Engineering Office) from Hong Kong, Prof Dimitris Kaliampakos (President of ACUUS) and Mr Han Admirral (Co-chair of ITACUS) invited to discuss some high-level subjects about urban underground space development. Moreover, there will be theme presentations by invited speakers and scientific sessions for presentation of high quality papers. It would definitely be a visionary and insightful international event on the subject of urban underground space development.
