SUMMARY:Cities 4.0
DESCRIPTION:Reimagining City Transformation\nOnline | September 21-22\, 2021\nCities around the world are reimagining the future\, using the pandemic as an opportunity to come up with urban solutions that will make life better and more prepared for crisis. They are aspiring to create greener spaces in their urban areas\, improve connectivity\, reduce congestion\, focus on sustainability\, and be more adaptive and smarter with new technology and materials. \nAs people have been forced to keep inside\, out of schools and workplaces\, as well as away from one another\, new challenges have been presented. Life may not return to the way it once was. Cities will need to adapt to a new reality and there are no universal solutions. \nThe hosting of the fourth edition of Cities 4.0 will once again provide the governments\, municipalities\, urban planners\, developers\, urban futurists\, solution providers and innovators an interactive platform to converge and discuss the methods and best practices to re-imagine our fundamental relationship with the cities\, and the opportunities to work outside their normal methods. \nOrganised by Confexhub Sdn. Bhd. under the auspices of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT)\, the key themes of Cities 4.0 include the following: \n\nRethinking Urban Development in A Post Pandemic World\nHigh Density Development with Low Density Activities – The Way Forward\nEdge-Computing-Enabled Smart Cities: Reshape the City Experience\nFrom Smart Cities to Connected Communities\nHarnessing Technologies to Transform Disaster Readiness\nDevelopment Of Greener and Cleaner Cities\nNew Traffic Patterns and Healthy Mobility\nDecoding The Low-Touch Economy\nStrategies In Developing Secondary Cities into Smart City\n\nFor more information\, please have a look at the event brochure or the event website.

SUMMARY:Spa-ce.net Network Conference
DESCRIPTION:21st year of the 21st century – Western Balkans’ Challenge of Common Future\nOnline | Belgrade\, Serbia | September 21-22\, 2021\n Two decades into the 21st century\, the Western Balkans countries still face a challenge of building sustainable functional networks and cooperation among each other. The objective of stronger cooperation for better common future is rational but it is one asking for confidence\, common vision of joint competitiveness\, social cohesion\, and a proper mode of governance. This requires a productive debate not only in the political circles (for example\, the political idea of Little Schengen)\, but also in the broad and interdisciplinary scientific discourse. \nSpa-ce.net is an appropriate platform of planning science representatives from CESEE countries\, with a number of institutions from the so-called Western Balkans. The initial discussion at this platform should start with searching for a rational method\, i.e.\, paving the pathway to voluntary functional networking of the Western Balkans countries for their sustainable future. Also\, the contributions building upon other cases of cross-border cooperation in Europe prove helpful. \nThematic scope of the conference: \n\nA Pathway to Functional Networking\nWestern Balkans as a crossroad of various mobilities in the XXI century\nChallenges of transnational/transregional governance\nPost pandemic waking up\nMemory\, place and identity in transition\n\nAlongside representatives of the member institutions of the Spa-ce.net network and other interested researchers\, PhD candidates undertaking research on one of the named topics are also invited to submit papers. The authors should send a 500-words abstract\, indicating which of the five mentioned topics their paper most closely addresses. The authors attending the Conference will also be asked to prepare a manuscript to be submitted for publication to the Collection of papers – Faculty of Geography University of Belgrade/Demography (or Book of Proceedings). \nThe application documents must be sent by July 15\, 2021. Please send your application form by email to wb2121@gef.bg.ac.rs and indicate which thematic scope (1-5) it is fitting at best. The selection and notification of participants is expected by the beginning of August 2021. A fee (50€) will be collected by organizers directly at place as usual. \nFor more information\, click on the banner.
