DESCRIPTION:The Conference\n\n\n\nDear colleagues\, \nWe are pleased to invite you to the 6th international conference on Changing Cities; Spatial\, Design\, Landscape\, Heritage & Socioeconomic dimensions\, 24-28 June 2024\, Island of Rhodes\, Greece. \nThe main theme of the 6th Changing Cities conference is\n“Climate Crisis. Cities’ transitions towards smart & green development”. \nThe series of international conferences on CHANGING CITIES aspires to bring together urban planners and designers\, architects\, landscape designers\, urban geographers and historians\, urban economists\, urban sociologists\, and urban policy makers. It aims at investigating new challenges of cities and their future\, and becoming an international forum of transaction of ideas on cities’ transitions. \nWe have so far organized six conferences\, with peer-reviewed Proceedings\, taking place always in June\, and always in venues with unique natural landscape and cultural heritage. \n\nCHANGING CITIES I: Spatial\, Morphological\, formal and socioeconomic dimensions\, 18-21 June 2013\, Skiathos Island\, Greece.\nCHANGING CITIES IΙ: Spatial\, Design\, Landscape and socioeconomic dimensions\, 22-26 June 2015\, Porto Heli\, Peloponnese\, Greece.\nCHANGING CITIES IΙI: Spatial\, Design\, Landscape and socioeconomic dimensions\, 26-30 June 2017\, Syros Island\, Greece.\nCHANGING CITIES IV: Spatial\, Design\, Landscape and socioeconomic dimensions\, 23-28 June 2019\, Chania\, Crete Island\, Greece.\nCHANGING CITIES V: Spatial\, Design\, Landscape\, Heritage and socioeconomic dimensions\, 20-25 June 2022\, Corfu Island\, Greece.\n𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐕𝐈: 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥\, 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧\, 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞\, 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 & 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬\, 𝟐𝟒-𝟐𝟖 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒\, 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬\, 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐞.\n\nAll Changing Cities conferences have been welcome by the academic community worldwide\, usually attracting over 300 presenters from more than 50 countries – Greece and Europe\, USA and Canada\, Latin America\, Middle East and North Africa\, Asia\, Far East\, and Oceania. \nOn this basis\, we believe the 6th Changing Cities conference will also be a successful academic event. This year\, the conference puts an emphasis on transformations of cities for addressing climate crisis. As always\, other conference thematic axis focus on: \n\nResilient Cities\,\nSmart Cities\,\nEnviromental Urban Planning\,\nGreen Architecture; Urban Design & New Technologies\,\nClimate Change\, Circular Economy and Sustainable Development\,\nUrban Design in Planning\,\nSustainable Urban Planning & Development\,\nUrban Redevelopment\, Regeneration & Resilience\,\nUrban Cultures & Public Open Spaces\,\nBuilt Heritage Management & Historical Centres \,\nCultural Heritage Management\,\nUrban Landscapes\, Landscape Planning & Design\,\nTransportation Planning and Policy in Cities\,\nPlace Marketing & City Branding\,\nUrban Economies & Spatial Impacts\,\nPlanning Laws & Real Estate\,\nMulticultural cities\,\nShrinking Cities\,\nDivided Cities\n\nRhodes island is a gifted place in terms of natural environment with picturesque bays and crystal-clear waters and beaches. The Medieval core of city of Rhodes is a preserved masterpiece\, protected by UNESCO as World Heritage. \nThe conference is organised in collaboration with University of the Aegean\, Faculty of Humanities\, Department of Mediterranean Studies; and the conference venue is at the university buildings adjoining the Medieval Walls in the heart of Rhodes’ historical centre. \nThe conference will be a creative event\, and we ‘ll have an enjoyable time together!\nWe look forward see you all in Rhodes!\n\nAspa Gospodini\, PhD\nProfessor of Urban Planning & Design\,\nUniversity of Thessaly\,\nDepartment of Planning & Regional Development\nChair of the Organising Committee & the international scientific board\nof the series of Changing Cities Conferences
