Individual Membership

Individual membership gives you the opportunity to become part of our global community of city and regional planners. ISOCARP has four categories of individual membership:

  • Member
  • Retired Member: 50% reduction on the membership fee
  • Young Member: under the age of 35, 50% reduction on the membership fee
  • Affiliate Member: employee of ISOCARP’s institutional member, reduced membership fee

These four categories in conjunction with your place of residence determine your membership fee for 2018-2019. Please follow this link to check which category your country of residence belongs to.

How to become an individual member?

To meet our criteria for individual membership, you must have a background in urban planning or allied professions (architecture, urban design, development planning, engineering, etc.) and demonstrate relevant working experience. Endorsement from your country’s National Delegation, or from the Select Committee is an asset.

The admission process has three stages, which may take up to 10 working days:

  1. Please fill in the membership form and upload your professional CV (download our template) detailing your education and relevant working experiences.
  2. The Secretary forwards your CV to the National Delegates, or to the Vice-President for Members, to approve your application.
  3. We inform you about your application, payment schedule and invoice, and log-in details. Your individual membership will be confirmed and active upon paying the fees for 2018-2019.

NOTE: From 2019 onwards, individual membership fees and the application process will be simplified as part of our effort to reform the Society and increase the benefits for our members in the future. We will keep you up-to-date about these changes on due time via the ISOCARP’s website, newsletter, and various social media channels.


Institutional Membership

Institutional membership gives your organisation the opportunity to become part of our global community of city and regional planners, and institutions. ISOCARP has two categories of institutional membership:

  • Institutional Member A: Local, Regional or National Governments
  • Institutional Member B: Institutes and Organisations

The institutional membership fees for 2018-2019 are €900 for category A, and €500 for category B.

Why should your organisation join?

Is your organisation a municipality, research institute, planning association, national or regional authority, private practice, NGO or any other organisation working with the built environment? Do you want to support your employees’ professional growth and build relations with other local, regional and international actors? Do you want to show what your city is good at? How to become an institutional member?

To meet our criteria for institutional membership, your organisation must demonstrate that its work relates to urban planning or allied built environment professions.

The admission process has three stages, which may take up to 10 working days:

  1. Please send us the online application forms for institutional membership and for the representative.
  2. The Secretary forwards these two forms to the Vice-President for Members, who approves your application in consultation with the National Delegates as well as the Executive Committee of ISOCARP.
  3. We inform you about your application, payment schedule and invoice, and log-in details. Your institutional membership will be confirmed and active upon paying the fees for 2018-2019.

NOTE: From 2019 onwards, ISOCARP’s policy on institutional membership will change as part of our effort to reform the Society and increase the benefits for our members in the future. We will keep you up-to-date about these changes on due time via ISOCARP’s website, newsletter, and various social media channels.
