In November 2016 ISOCARP and the Tehran Urban Planning and Research Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Scope and Objectives
1. The Overall general objective of the understanding between Participants is the basis for further development of a close partnership between ISOCARP and TUPRC and to initiate actions to foster the achievement of the Participants’ respective objectives in the field of urban planning and
research
2. The MoU has the following specific objectives:
• to have an open attitude to explore possibilities for collaboration and to strengthen the relationship between Participants in the field of urban planning and research;
• to clarify the general conditions for participation in congresses, Joint projects and the arrangement of Workshops and Seminars;
• to monitor progress of Joint activities and obtained results;
• to develop in co-operation a plan of action which identifies the Joint activities and actions for the coming three years, to be reviewed each year.

Joint Activities
The Participants agree to develop a focused co-operation starting from:
• Where appropriate, inviting the counterpart Organisation to be officially represented at Main Events of the other Organisation;
• Co-operating in identifying projects, research and actions of Joint interest for their membership;
• Arranging Joint Workshops, Seminars and project teams on issues of common interest for its membership, but also for a wider audience. The distribution of work and costs for such activities will be agreed in writing in advance between the Participants;
• Informing the counterpart Organisation of the events and activities being undertaken by the Organisation;
• Establishing a link on the Websites of the respective organisations linking to each other’s Websites;
• Publishing reports of mutual interest on each other’s Websites;
• To publish books and scientific reports;
• Expert exchange in the field of Urban planning and management;
• Jointly organising UPATs, YPP activities, research and training activities on the theme of urban and regional planning when and where appropriate; and, in general
• Maintaining open Channels of communication between the Executive Committee of ISOCARP and the Executive Council of TUPRC.
