The first impressions of the Nanjing UPAT
The weather conditions with temperatures around 40C/104F with a high humidity made the UPAT Team members sweat more than in other UPAT workshops.
The Team Members of the Urban Planning Advisory Team (UPAT) for the Jiangbei New Area, Nanjing (PRC) were taken through the ancient capital of Nanjing and visited various sites in the Jiangbei New Area.
Team Leader Dhiru Thadani (India/USA), UPAT Rapporteur Dr. Awais Piracha (Australia), ISOCARP Vice President Martin Dubbeling (the Netherlands), UPAT Team members Dr. Tomasz Madja (Poland), Dr. Liang Huew Wang (Hong Kong/Malaysia) and Mr. Jos Verweij (the Netherlands) closely worked together with the Nanjing Urban Planning Bureau in the week of 11-17 August 2013.
In several meetings a wide range of reports were presented and openly discussed.
Together with a team of expert form the Urban Planning Society of China (UPSC), the ISOCARP UPAT Team gave many suggestions to improve the planning objectives and future interventions. The ISOCARP UPAT Team will return for a second week of discussions in the last week of October.
