Malgorzata Hanzl, Poland/USA
Malgorzata Hanzl holds her MArch and PhD in Architecture and Urban planning from Lodz University of Technology, Poland. She completed her MArch diploma in Lyon Ecole d’Architecture. She practiced urban planning and urban design as well as architecture for several years before entering academia and continues serving consultancy as urban planner.
Assistant Professor of Urban Planning in Lodz University of Technology, Poland, she also teaches in Faculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology, Architecture for Society of Knowledge MArch course. She has got an extensive experience in teaching and lecturing. She maintained her Fulbright Scholarship as a Visiting Researcher in SENSEable City Laboratory MIT, Cambridge MA.
Following her research interests she has been actively involved in publishing and writing activities, cooperating with several urban planning and citizen journals and blogging. Małgorzata’s main area of interest and experience refers to public participation in urban planning, internet communication, GIS, rehabilitation especially in the context of post-industrial cities, urban morphology, anthropology and culture related studies. She is an author of several journal publications and also serves as a reviewer and an adviser in scientific boards and committees.
Ahmed Sangaré, Côte d’Ivoire
Ahmed Sangaré is the Managing Partner of Totem Architects, an architectural firm based in Abidjan with focus on residential and mixed-use development. He is a founding member of Atelier Spontané, a think tank of young architects reflecting on ways to improve the daily living conditions in precarious settlements in Abidjan via simple, basic planning tools for immediate and concrete actions. Atelier Spontané has worked on the slums of Adjouffou (south-east of Abidjan) in partnership with the National Order of Architects of Cote d’Ivoire, the International Union of Architects, UN-HABITAT and UNESCO. Ahmed was a member of the Council of The National Order of Architects of Côte d’Ivoire (2012-2014) where he was successively in charge of architectural competitions and the relations with other institutions. He was an invited author to the annual congress of ISOCARP in Wuhan (2011) and Perm (2012) where he was also a selected Young Planning Professional (YPP). Ahmed holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from The African School of Architecture and Urbanism in Lomé.

Peter Robinson is an Urban and Regional Planner and educator whose career has spanned professional and academic fields. Since 1978 his work as a planning and development consultant has involved a wide range of spatial planning and development assignments in Southern and East Africa. He was appointed Professor at University of Natal in 1995 and Professor Emeritus at University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2011. In addition to lecturing and consulting, he has been a member of ISOCARP since 1981; he was a member of the South African Council for Town and Regional Planners (1999 – 2002); a Council member of the South African Institute of Race Relations (1996 to date); Chairperson of the Cato Manor Development Association Board (1993 – 1999); a Trustee of the Project Preparation Trust (KwaZulu-Natal) (1994 to date) and currently co-chair. He has been the recipient of four awards for professional work and has published two books:
- Urban Reconstruction in the Developing World – Learning from an international best practice (2004) (based on Cato Manor reconstruction).
- Future, Change & Choices. Strategic planning methods for built environment professionals (2014).
