Comprehensive planning for urban development – capitalizing the potentials of FIFA world cup 2018
BACKGROUND:
OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP:
The workshop aims to provide young Russian planners responsible for, or participating in, the shaping and development of settlements, with the principles and practices of effective contemporary urbanism and practical knowledge that will be of immediate use to each participant.

YOUNG PLANNING ERPROFESSIONALS’ WORKSHOP – THEME & SITE:
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE WORKSHOP COORDINATORS:
Tasks of the two selected coordinators:
1. Be responsible for the co-ordination of the framework, the scientific and professional content of the Workshop Theme in collaboration with local coordinators from RUPA.
2. Guide the Young Planning Professionals work throughout the workshop, stimulate discussions among them, instruct on the presentation format.
3. Coordinate the publication of the Workshop results in collaboration with the VP responsible for the YPP Program.
CONTRIBUTION AND EXPENSES:
Tasks:
Each coordinator will spend 5 full days working with the YPP group during July 8-12. Before and after, there may be a necessity of conducting meetings with local hosts and press.
Honorarium:
There will be no honorarium for the YPP Workshop coordinators for the duration of time they will spend guiding the YPPs
Expenses:
ISOCARP will provide the international travel allowance of 500 Euro (for Europe-based members) and 700 Euro (for non-Europe based members) for the selected coordinators. The money will be paid after completing the task. Therefore, the selected workshop coordinators will be asked to arrange the INTERNATIONAL trip on their own.
Since the workshop will be hosted by the city of Ulyanovsk (flight time from Moscow – 1,5-2 hours), ISOCARP will purchase the tickets for the domestic flights from Moscow and Ulyanovsk.
RUPA will be in charge of arranging hotels, meals and local transportation for the entire duration of the workshop within the agreed dates.
LOGISTICS:
- The location of the YPP Workshop will beUlyanovsk, Russian Federation
- Expected arrival dates to Moscow: AT LEAST one day before the starting date of the Workshop OR one day before the beginning of the workshop Vnukovo airport
- Departures should be scheduled: at the latest the day after the public presentation of the Workshop results.
Coordinators are welcome to stay in Russia longer. However, their expenses for additional time spent in Russia beyond the time required for the workshop has to be borne by the participating members themselves. Both RUPA and ISOCARP should timely be informed on such an extension.

ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION:
Two Workshop Coordinators will be selected from among the applications. ISOCARP welcomes applications from full members with proven expertise in urban design and planning and with academic experience and/or teaching experience in similar professional training programs. International experience is a plus but not a must. Also, the basic understanding and/or interest in Central and Eastern Europe realities will be treated as advantage, although it is not intended to select candidates of Russian origin. The most effective composition of the team will be taken into account for the final selection.
It is intended to select both one “senior” and one “junior” coordinator, which should allow both, the provision of professional expertise and good abilities to work with the group of YPPs. For the “senior” coordinator post colleagues with extensive planning and/or educational practice are especially encouraged to apply. For the “junior” coordinator post former YPPs with further professional and/or educational experience are especially welcome to apply, although applications from colleagues not being part of previous YPP workshops are also welcome.
The most effective composition of the team will be taken into account for the final selection. The final decision will be taken jointly by VP YPP, RUPA officials and Ulyanovsk municipality and region officials.

SELECTION COMMITTEE:
An evaluation and final selection of candidates will be done by a Selection Committee formed by Piotr Lorens, ISOCARP YPP VP, as well as representatives of RUPA and the Ulyanovsk region.
Selected Candidates will be informed of their selection on 27 May, after which they will have to confirm their availability and participation to ISOCARP Headquarters not later than 31 May. Participation documents will be sent to them between 1 and 7 June. Travel procedures (incl. visa if applicable) will start immediately after 31 May .
