Dear ISOCARP Member,
The 2018 ISOCARP Congress will take place in Bodø, Norway, from 1-5 October 2018. The theme is “Cool Planning: Changing Climate and Our Urban Future”.
As Vice President Congresses and Events of ISOCARP I would like to ask you whether you are interested in becoming a Member of the Congress Team for this year’s Congress and work together with General Rapporteur Professor Dushko Bogunovich.
The congress website will be continuously updated.
There will be six tracks with the following topics:
- THE GLOBAL VIEW: Climate Change Impacts, Sustainability and Resilience
- SPOTLIGHT CITIES: Planning for Coastal Cities, Remote Towns, and High North Cities
- CLIMATE-PROOF CITIES: Planning for Weather, Water, Food and Energy
- TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE: Clean, Green, Smart and Resilient
- SOCIAL NETWORKS: Citizen Participation, Urban Governance and Cultural Transformation
- CONTEMPORARY PLANNING PRACTICE: Projects and Paradigms
More information on the tracks is available here.
These tracks will later be subdivided into sessions with different sub-themes.
We are looking for two rapporteurs for each track.
You and your co-rapporteur will develop the sub-themes, review and rate the abstracts; review the submitted papers, case studies and session proposals. You then will prepare an introductory report and coordinate and lead the workshop sessions at the congress itself; you will summarize the results for the plenary session of the congress and prepare a final report after the congress presenting the conclusions and lessons learned.
According to ISOCARP policy, Congress Team Members receive a free Congress registration (but no free travelling and accommodation costs). There is a requirement that the prospective co-rapporteur has attended at least one ISOCARP Congress in the past.
This call is for ISOCARP Members only.
We hope many of you will volunteer to be Congress Team Members. Hopefully planners from the private, public and academic sector from all continents will apply. We will choose from the list of volunteers in order to have an excellent and balanced team.
If you are interested please let us know by 31 January 2018. Kindly attach your CV and preference for a track(s) – including one paragraph describing why you chose the specific track and what is your relevant experience.
Please send your application to ledwon@isocarp.org and kurth@isocarp.org.
Many good wishes for a happy and prosperous 2018.
Looking forward to your answer,
Slawomir Ledwon, PhD Eng. Arch.
