ALGEMEEN NUT
ISOCARP is een internationale non-profitorganisatie die zich inzet voor de verbetering van steden, regio’s en menselijke nederzettingen door middel van kennis op het gebied van ruimtelijke ordening, onderwijs, onderzoek, capaciteitsopbouw en internationale samenwerking.
ISOCARP mobiliseert haar internationale netwerk van ruimtelijke ordeningsdeskundigen en -instellingen om expertise en kennis in te brengen bij vraagstukken van breder maatschappelijk belang, waaronder duurzame stedelijke ontwikkeling, veerkracht, inclusie en verbetering van de leefomgeving.
Het professionele netwerk van de vereniging ondersteunt de verwezenlijking van deze doelstellingen van algemeen nut door middel van kennisuitwisseling, publicaties, onderwijs, internationale programma’s, projecten en samenwerking met overheidsinstanties, universiteiten, het maatschappelijk middenveld en internationale organisaties.
STATUTELIJK DOEL
1. De doelstellingen van ISOCARP zijn:
- Het creëren van een internationaal netwerk voor professionals in stedenbouw en ruimtelijke ordening en
- Wereldwijde praktijkondersteuning, ondersteuning in termen van onderwijs en opleiding en ter bevordering en verbetering van stedelijke en regionale planning en volkshuisvesting.
2. ISOCARP tracht haar doelstellingen te verwezenlijken door middel van opleiding, onderzoek en ondersteuning, en in het bijzonder door:
- Het vertegenwoordigen en aanbieden van een netwerk en communicatiekanalen voor leden, partners en instellingen;
- Het ontwikkelen van diensten en middelen voor alle aspecten van stedelijke en regionale planning en volkshuisvesting en
- Het ontwikkelen en delen van kennis door middel van bijeenkomsten, projecten en diverse programma’s.
OVER ISOCARP
De International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) is een onafhankelijke, wereldwijde non-profitorganisatie die zich inzet voor de verbetering van steden en regio’s door middel van kennis op het gebied van ruimtelijke ordening, onderzoek, onderwijs, capaciteitsopbouw en internationale samenwerking.
ISOCARP, opgericht in 1965, brengt een internationale gemeenschap van professionals en instellingen op het gebied van ruimtelijke ordening samen, wier kennis en expertise bijdragen aan betere, duurzamere, veerkrachtigere en inclusievere steden en menselijke nederzettingen wereldwijd.
Hoewel ISOCARP-leden werkzaam zijn op veel verschillende gebieden van stedelijke en territoriale planning, delen ze allemaal een gemeenschappelijke interesse in de ruimtelijke, sociaal-culturele, economische en ecologische dimensies van verstedelijking en bredere territoriale duurzaamheid. ISOCARP-leden adviseren belangrijke besluitvormers, stellen en ondersteunen projecten voor interventie in een ruimtelijke context door middel van algemene of specifieke acties.
De doelstellingen van ISOCARP zijn om steden en andere gebieden te verbeteren door middel van planning, training, onderwijs en onderzoek.
ISOCARP stimuleert ook de uitwisseling van professionele kennis tussen planners, promoot het planningsberoep in al zijn vormen, stimuleert en verbetert planningsonderzoek, training en onderwijs en vergroot het publieke bewustzijn en begrip van belangrijke planningskwesties op mondiaal niveau.
Als niet-gouvernementele organisatie wordt ISOCARP erkend door de Verenigde Naties (ECOSOC).
Het belangrijkste evenement van de Society is het jaarlijkse ISOCARP World Planning Congress. Sinds 1965 zijn er in alle delen van de wereld ISOCARP-congressen gehouden die een forum bieden om de meest geavanceerde onderwerpen te verkennen en aan de orde te komen. Deze congressen bevorderen en stimuleren het creëren en delen van kennis binnen het vakgebied van de ruimtelijke planning.
Ook onderneemt de Society een robuust scala aan professionele activiteiten. Een bijzondere focus en inzet van ISOCARP is op jonge generaties en het faciliteren van kennis voor betere steden met de jeugd. De Young Planning Professionals (YPP) -workshops, die meestal voorafgaand aan het jaarlijkse World Planning Congress worden gegeven, zijn een cruciaal onderdeel van de inzet van ISOCARP om bij te dragen aan de kennisbasis en het verbeteren van vaardigheden van jonge professionals, de toekomstige leiders van ons beroep. Het YPP-programma streeft ernaar opkomende jonge planners (onder de 35 jaar) van over de hele wereld samen te brengen om ‘echte’ planningsprojecten aan te pakken.
ISOCARP Urban Planning Advisory Teams (UPAT’s) helpen steden en regio’s door de uitgebreide ervaring en expertise van ISOCARP-leden aan te bieden om te werken aan belangrijke lokale of internationale planningsprojecten, programma’s en beleidsinitiatieven.
Alle ISOCARP-activiteiten worden gedocumenteerd in publicaties zoals de ISOCARP Review, congresverslagen en speciale projectrapporten. De Society produceert ook relevante publicaties voor professionals, zoals de International Manual of Planning Practice. Verder ISOCARP erkent uitmuntende projecten via het Awards-programma van de Society.
Als antwoord op specifieke verzoeken om ISOCARP-assistentie bij onderzoek en adviesdiensten, vormt ISOCARP technische bijstandsteams op die bestaan uit leden die hun expertise en ervaring vrijwillig aanbieden.

BELONINGSBELEID
Het bestuur wordt niet beloond. Voor het uitvoeren van bestuurstaken wordt per persoon per jaar vergoed aan reis- en verblijfkosten, maximaal: President en Secretary General: 6000 euro, Executive Committee and Board: 2000 euros each.

PUBLIC- BENEFIT MISSION
ISOCARP is an international non-profit organisation that works to improve cities, regions and human settlements through planning knowledge, education, research, capacity development and international cooperation.
ISOCARP mobilises its international network of planning professionals and institutions to contribute expertise and knowledge to issues of wider societal importance, including sustainable urban development, resilience, inclusion and improved living environments.
The Society’s professional network supports the delivery of these public-benefit objectives through knowledge exchange, publications, education, international programmes, projects and cooperation with public authorities, universities, civil society and international organisations.
STATUTORY PURPOSE
1. The objects of ISOCARP are:
- To create an international network for professionals in urban design and regional planning and
- To provide worldwide practice support, support in terms of education and training and to promote and improve urban and regional planning and housing.
2. The Society seeks to realize its objects by means of training, research and the provision of support, and in particular by:
- Representing and providing a network and communication channels for members, partners and institutions;
- Developing services and means for all aspects of urban and regional planning and housing and
- Developing and sharing knowledge through meetings, projects and various programmes.
ABOUT ISOCARP
The International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) is an independent global non-profit organisation working to improve cities and regions through planning knowledge, research, education, capacity development and international cooperation. Founded in 1965, ISOCARP brings together an international community of planning professionals and institutions whose knowledge and expertise contribute to better, more sustainable, resilient and inclusive cities and human settlements worldwide.
Although ISOCARP members work in many different urban and territorial planning fields, they all share a common interest in the spatial, sociocultural, economic, and environmental dimensions of urbanization and broader territorial sustainability. ISOCARP members advise key decision-makers, proposing and supporting projects for intervention in a spatial context through general or specific actions.
The objectives of ISOCARP are to improve cities and other territories through planning practice, training, education, and research.
ISOCARP also encourages the exchange of professional knowledge between planners, promotes the planning profession in all its forms, stimulates and improves planning research, training, and education and enhances public awareness and understanding of major planning issues at a global level.
As a non-governmental organisation, ISOCARP is recognized by the United Nations (ECOSOC).
The Society’s main event is the annual ISOCARP World Planning Congress. Since 1965, ISOCARP Congresses have taken place in all parts of the world providing a forum to explore and engage with cutting edge topics. These Congresses promote and encourage knowledge creation and sharing within the planning profession.
The Society also undertakes a robust range of professional activities. A particular focus and commitment of ISOCARP is on young generations and facilitating knowledge for better cities with the youth. The Young Planning Professionals (YPP) workshops, usually conducted before the annual World Planning Congress, is a crucial component of ISOCARP’s commitment of contributing to the knowledge base and improving skills of young professionals, the future leaders of our profession. The YPP Programme seeks to bring together emerging young (under the age of 35) planners from all over the world to tackle ‘real-world’ planning projects.
ISOCARP Urban Planning Advisory Teams (UPATs) assist cities and regions by offering the extensive experience and expertise of ISOCARP members to work on important local or international planning projects, programs, and policy initiatives.
All ISOCARP activities are documented in publications such as the ISOCARP Review, Congress proceedings, and special project reports. The Society also produces relevant publications for professionals such as the International Manual of Planning Practice. ISOCARP also recognizes excellence through the Society’s Awards programme.
In response to specific requests for ISOCARP assistance with research and consulting services, ISOCARP forms Technical Assistance Teams consisting of members who volunteer their expertise and experience.

RENUMERATION POLICY
