To Members of the International Society of City and Regional Planners,
As you know, the new policies on membership (individual and institutional) were developed by the Board as a regulation defining eligibility, rights and fees.
The regulation was discussed in the Members Area of the website, and I thank those members who contributed to that discussion. I particularly thank Wail I. Bakhit, Zivile Simkute, Peter Jonquiere, Jef Van den Broeck and Daniel Kinnoch for thoughtful comments and suggestions.
To come into effect, the new policies needed the support of the membership (by a majority vote, with at least 60 members voting).
I am pleased to announce that the Membership Policy was endorsed with a 94% vote in favour – 109 for, 7 against – and is now in effect. Some suggestions for further improvements may be considered during the Annual General Meeting in Jakarta.
I take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to this milestone in the continuing development of our Society.
