On 8 November 2020, the 17^th Iranian ceremony of World Town Planning Day was held virtually in Tehran. Tehran Mayor Dr. Hanachi and domestic urban planning experts presented lectures, while ISOCARP contributed with a video-message delivered by Secretary General Frank D’hondt and Board member Dr.  Ali Alraouf. During this event, Dr. Sabagh, the manager of international affairs of the Municipality of Tehran, launched the establishment of an ISOCARP Iran Desk within the Municipality, with the aim to strengthen cooperation with ISOCARP’s global community of urban and regional planners, as well to encourage more Iranian planners to become ISOCARP member. The event was concluded with the announcement of the winners of a photography competition on ‘urban resiliency during COVID-19.
