Michael Geller is a Vancouver-based architect, planner, real estate consultant and property developer with five decades’ experience in the public, private and institutional sectors. He also serves on the Adjunct Faculty of Simon Fraser University. He was a regular contributor to the Vancouver Courier newspaper and now writes for the Vancouver Sun and other media.
He is president of The Geller Group which specializes in planning and real estate consulting for a variety of large and small-scale residential and mixed-use projects. He also undertakes small property developments on his own, or in partnership with others.
Since 2013, Michael has served as a juror and planning consultant in Russia and Kazakhstan and as a lecturer in Azerbaijan. He served on the jury for Moscow’s new International Financial Centre Competition and a major planning competition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Until 2006 Michael was President and CEO of the SFU Community Trust, overseeing the planning and development of UniverCity, an award-winning sustainable community adjacent to the Simon Fraser University Burnaby Mountain campus.
A frequent commentator on planning and urban issues across Canada, Michael has been honoured as a Life Member of the Architectural Institute of BC and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International and has also been recognized as one of British Columbia’s 20 Most Influential People in Residential Construction by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.
