Day 1:
Durban to Drakensberg (Lunch & Dinner)
Depart Durban and drive through the scenic Valley of a 1000 Hills, and on to Pietermaritzburg, which is the Capital of Kwa-Zulu Natal and second largest city in the province. It was founded in 1838 and it is home to a campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Pietermaritzburg is a major producer of Aluminium, as well as timber and dairy products.
Visit the site of Nelson Mandela’s capture in 1962 near Howick. A monument has been erected at the place where he said goodbye to freedom for 27 years.
The Meander route offers a unique mixture of arts and crafts and we will stop along the way for lunch and to visit some of the quant shops. We head into the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg and arrive at our hotel in the late afternoon.
The evening is spent at leisure with dinner in the lodge.

Day 2:
Sani Pass Trip (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
After breakfast, you are transported up the spectacular Sani Pass, in a 4×4 vehicle, and across the border into the independent Kingdom of Lesotho. (Passports essential!). The Pass climbs 1300m in just 12 km, in a ‘hair-raising’ switch back pattern. We visit a Basotho village and experience day to day life in this mountainous kingdom. Lunch is enjoyed at the highest pub in Africa. This is a great experience of Basotho culture and the majestic Southern Drakensberg views. We descend the pass, and enjoy another evening in the foothills. Log fires are definitely the norm here. Enjoy dinner at the lodge.

Day 3:
Drakensberg to Durban (Breakfast & Lunch)
After breakfast, recharge and explore the beautiful mountain scenery on horseback or go on a guided Bushman’s rock art hike, hike into the world heritage site. For the avid birdwatcher over 300 bird species are found in the area including the Black stork, Bald ibis, Bearded and Cape vultures, Black eagle, Jackal buzzard, Black harrier, Orange breasted Rockjumper, Drakensberg siskin, the Blue, Crowned and Wattled Crane’s and Denham’s bustard. Relax and enjoy a spa treatment with breath taking views. These activities are all optional extras and your guide can assist you with making bookings.
After a leisurely morning, depart the Drakensberg for Durban. Lunch will be taken en-route. This is a ±3 hour drive. Arrive in Durban at ±17:00.
