It is with great sadness we learned that Professor Federico Malusardi (born 18/02/1928) has passed away on 31 March.
Federico was part of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Urban Planning (INU) and a long-standing member (since 1971) and Vice President (1984-1990) of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). Until 2012, Federico has been very active as ISOCARP representative for UN-HABITAT and participated in many ISOCARP congresses.
Federico Malusardi was Director of the Department of Urban and Territorial Planning (DPTU) of Sapienza University of Rome from 1983 to 1989. He was also coordinator of the PhD Programme in Urban and Territorial Planning since its inception in 1984 until 2000. He founded and directed the ‘International Journal of Human settlement, cultural and planning in developing countries’ and the ‘Centre of Urban Planning Studies’, with the aim of deepening and disseminating territorial and environmental research in developing countries and fostering cooperation in emerging countries.
He will be remembered as a solid national and international reference for the studies in the field of urban and territorial planning.
