About ISOCARP
The International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) is a global network of city and regional planners, promoting planning education and practice to achieve sustainable development goals and creating and sharing knowledge for better places through the ISOCARP Institute. Combining a unique, triple perspective in theory, policy and practice, ISOCARP has pioneered the focus of the planning profession on various issues.

One of the main activities of ISOCARP is the organisation of the annual World Planning Congress which focuses on a planning theme of foremost international interest. The Congress provides a platform for establishing professional and personal contacts with colleagues from all around the world. The 57th ISOCARP World Planning Congress will take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 8 to 11, 2021. The topic of the Congress is “New times, better places, stronger communities”.

What we look for

We are looking for a candidate interested in urban issues to assist the ISOCARP Secretariat in delivering our activities and projects. The ideal candidate is a motivated and independent individual who can balance different tasks and responsibilities and collaborate with the office staff.

The internship will include a variety of different duties and will ensure international exposure. The main tasks concern the organisation of the ISOCARP Congress. They include: providing technical assistance and support to the Congress Team, reviewing the papers presented at the Congress, contributing to the preparation of dissemination materials, and preparing content for the final Congress Proceedings and Congress Recap.

In addition, the candidate will support the team in other activities. These include contributing to the development of the ISOCARP paper platform, assisting in the promotion of ISOCARP publications and supporting the organisation of future events.

Requirements

  • Hybrid work (both in the office and remotely). The candidate is required to work in the office during the online session of the Congress (October 28-29, 2021, and November 9, 2021)
  • It is required to have a good command of English, both verbal and written (Dutch is not a requirement).
  • We are looking for someone who can join us as soon as possible.
  • The length of the internship: min. 1 month/max. 3 months.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in a university programme.
