Invitation to join the ISOCARP@WUF11 team
We cordially invite you to express your interest to join our ad hoc ISOCARP@WUF11 team to prepare for and be active during the 11th World Urban Forum. The conference is organised by UN-Habitat and hosted by Katowice in Poland from 26 to 30 June 2022.
The theme of WUF11, “Transforming our Cities for a Better Urban Future”, will provide great insights and clarity on the future of cities based on existing trends, challenges and opportunities, as well as will suggest ways cities can be better prepared to address future pandemics and a wide range of other shocks. The description of the theme on the official WUF11 website further reads that “the future of humanity is undeniably urban, and we must plan our cities well to ensure sustainability, equity and shared prosperity”.
Capitalising on our successful active presence at WUF10 in Abu Dhabi in 2020 – see our ISOCARP@WUF10 Report – the ISOCARP Board remains keen to foster member involvement in this event, although it is organised only a few months before our 58th World Planning Congress in Brussels planned for October 2-7, 2022 (please, don’t go to Katowice if it entails missing our Congress in Brussels!).
We are currently exploring how to synergise best our efforts to make the planning voice heard at WUF11 – never to be taken for granted – together with our most strategic partners. With UN-Habitat, we are already discussing possible joint networking and training events, apart from being invited to high-level roundtables, such as the Roundtable of Professionals with ISOCARP as a member of the Habitat Professionals Forum. Moreover, as an active member of the Global Planners Network, we can contribute to a joint GPN@WUF11 Declaration to stress the importance of (reformed) urban and territorial planning.
Are you interested in joining our team? Please send us a short motivation message and register for the WUF11. A few quotes from interesting motivation messages will be published in a special newsletter dedicated to ISOCARP@WUF11.
