In August 2014, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the membership of a High-level Advisory Group on Sustainable Transport aimed to develop recommendations on sustainable transport for the global, national and local levels. Milica Bajic Brkovic, at the time President of ISOCARP, was invited to join the Advisory Group. Over the three years she continually contributed to the project by focusing on the issues of spatial and urban development and linking the sustainable transport to urban transformation, environment and climate change. The Advisory Group calls for sustainable transport that is in line with inclusive and equitable growth, social development, protection of the global environment and ecosystems, and addressing climate change.
The Advisory Group delivered the report “Mobilizing Sustainable Transport for Development” to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and launched its recommendations on 28 October at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
