Since 1965, ISOCARP has established numerous partnerships, among others, with municipalities, planning associations, academic publishers, regional authorities, UN and EU bodies, and international events around the world.

While our partnerships may take different forms – Memorandum of Understanding, publication partnerships, endorsement agreements, sponsoring opportunities – the Society always invests its global and diverse urban and territorial expertise in making a cooperation a success.

Most notably, ISOCARP is recognized as a planning professional non-profit organization by the United Nations System through ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council). Within the UN-system, ISOCARP enjoys special partnerships with UNESCO and most notable UN-Habitat, with whom we renewed a 10-yearlong MoU in 2020, to jointly contribute to the Decade of Action to implement the Sustainable Development Goals. ISOCARP is member of UN-Habitat’s World Urban Campaign (including ‘The City We Need’) as well of the Habitat Professionals Forum, administered by UN-Habitat.

Our engagement towards co-implementing the SDG’s and the Urban SDG 11 in particular, is also a driving force with continued or renewed partnerships with, among others, UNESCO, Urban Economy Forum, Metropolis, Cities4Children and many others.

Together with the International Federation of Housing and Planning (IFHP) and the Global Planning Education Association Network (GPEAN), ISOCARP is an active member of the Global Planners Network, an informal platform for planning associations representing over 150,000 planning professionals worldwide.
