On September 29, 2017, Dhiru Thadani, distinguished member of ISOCARP and one of the leaders of New Urbanism movement gave a public lecture titled “Urbanism: the prescriptive remedy to global crisis” in Moscow. The event was endorsed by Russian National Delegation, which secured the venue, information campaign and translation. Thanks to support of the Moscow Union of Architects, the lecture took place in a very heart of Russian planning and architecture profession – famous House of Architects.

In his meaningful and impressive presentation, well-illustrated by excellent author’s graphics, Dhiru Thadani has argued that urban form friendly to people, beauty of cities and urban planning focused on creating values have a crucial role in coping with the global crises of booming housing demand, climate change, problems of public health, and emerging collapse of fossil fuel economy. The lecture has attracted great attention of Russian planning community and elucidated well-established theory as well as the practical recommendations for the planners and architects in order to improve their cities and, thus, to support positive changes globally.
