Sofia Morgado is an Architect holding an MSc in Contemporary Architectonic Culture (FA-TU Lisbon), she is Doctor in Urbanism (Doctor Europeus, ETSAB/UPC, Barcelona) with further post-doctoral studies and Agregação (similar to Habilitation or DSc.) in Urbanism (FA-U. Lisbon).
Since 1997 she lectures at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon; courses include urban design studios, contemporary urbanism and metropolitan studies related courses. Based in Lisbon she is actively involved in international and national networks and research; outcomes are regularly published and discussed.
She has lectured and spoken in several countries, been invited speaker and conferences’ and seminars’ scientific committee member, referee, discussant and chair.
Recent positions, amongst others and besides her commitment to the ISOCARP SC, include collaboration with the European Commission as Expert, Advisor and national delegate at the Helsinki Group. In 2010 she was awarded the Scientific Award UTL/Santander (Urbanism), Technical University of Lisbon, for her research and publications.
