Brett Clavio, USA

Brett Clavio is a Principal at Clavio Designs and Planning and a Program Manager at the New Mexico Department of Transportation- Transit and Rail. He has worked in public and private roles of City and Regional Planning for over 20 years, from the small project to the big project. He enjoys the arts and sciences. His activities include architecture, urban planning, writing, public speaking, arts and international advisory. He speaks English, French, German, Spanish, and is learning Chinese. He supports local, national and international organizations aimed at improving humanity and the world. He currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States.

Dorota Kamrowska-Zaluska is an Assistant Professor and Director of mid-career program on Urban development and management of metropolitan areas, at the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning at Faculty of Architecture, Gdansk University of Technology; a visiting scholar/ Research Fellow at several research institutions incl. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2013), Institut National des Sciences Appliquées, Lyon (2001-2002); a Charted Urban Planner with 16 year experience working both for public and public sector, working with masterplans and urban design projects in Poland and France, but also taking part in various participatory research and user-oriented design projects, research interests: social innovation in urban regeneration, smart cities and development of metropolitan areas. Author and coauthor of 19 Local Development Plans, coauthor of Masterplan for City of Gdansk/Poland, 2005 -2008. author of more than thirty papers and a book on sustainable urban regeneration – describing role of EU Cohesion Policy and its role in urban regeneration, based on comparing Polish, French and German systems; Board member of Association of Polish City Planners and ISOCARP Deputy Bureau Member Poland.

Thuli Mphambukeli is currently a Lecturer and a Programme Director at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of the Free State (UFS). She obtained the degree of Bachelor of Community and Development Studies (2005), the degree Master of Town and Regional Planning (2012) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the degree of Bachelor in Theology at Faith Bible College (2014), and a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning (2015) from UFS. She started her academic career as a tutor in Social Justice Education at the University of Natal in Durban in February 2003. She teaches and supervises at postgraduate levels at UFS and has taught for the Advanced Certificate in Education, Bachelor of Education and Masters in Education, University of KwaZulu-Natal. She also facilitated and designed the Gender and Labour Studies Diploma Programme for the Workers College from 2009 to 2012.
Her research interests include Social Justice in Planning, Situated Urban Political Ecology, Human Security and Humanitarian Response, Community and Development Studies, the right to the city and power relationships, Integration of Human Settlements and Transport Planning, Informality, Urban Renewal, Land Use Management in Urban and Regional Areas; and Accessing Basic Services in Human Settlements.
