Piotr Lorens, PhD, DSc. is an urban planner and researcher, dealing with a wide spectrum of aspects associated with present urban development and regeneration processes. He is the Head of the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland. At the same time He is actively involved in the works of the Society of Polish Town Planners and is coordinating the works of the ISOCARP Polish National Delegation.
Piotr Lorens completed his graduate studies at Gdansk University of Technology and later on continued His education – as Fulbright Scholar – at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University (USA).
His daily duties involve teaching in the field of urban design and development in Gdansk. He is also actively involved in development of the new planning curriculum at His home university as well as in teaching in other institutions. These include universities in Portugal, Turkey, Germany and Slovakia, to name just a few. Many of His activities in this field are done within the framework of the EU research and educational programs.
Piotr’s research interest and professional practice include planning and implementation of the urban development and redevelopment schemes of different nature, varying from decayed urban sites to entire metropolitan areas.
