Background

The ISOCARP Student Award, established in 2016, is dedicated to the future generation of planners, those who will be in charge of taking care of our urban environment. The award is bestowed to a student or a group of students at both levels (undergraduate-bachelor and graduate-master) with outstanding results in urban and regional planning or related field.

The Award is bestowed in two categories: Winner and Special Mention. The Award winners are announced during the official ceremony at the 55th ISOCARP World Planning Congress in Jakarta-Bogor in September.

Eligible criteria

Any currently enrolled or recently graduated (in 2018) student can apply.

The submissions may include the following:

  • Design projects
  • Studio projects
  • Essays
  • Bachelor theses
  • Master theses

How to apply?

Submission material

Each candidature (individual or group) should submit 3 files including:

  • Portfolio with graphical representations necessary to illustrate the work (max. 4 A3 pages)
  • Description of the submitted project (no more than 5,000 characters with spaces)
  • Curriculum Vitae

Registration fee

The registration fee for the Student Award is 20€ for each application, which must be paid here. Please note, your submission will not be considered eligible if the fee has not been paid.

Selection and rewards

The Jury, composed of members from the Board, Scientific Committee, and young planners, will evaluate applications according to the following criteria:

  • Content
  • Methodological approach
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Alignment between the project idea and results
  • Clarity

The reward for the ‘Winner’ is one year of free individual membership to the Society*; free entrance to the 55th World Planning Congress in Jakarta; an official certification of the Student Award; appearance in the Society’s website, social media, and newsletter.

* in case of a group submission, we can only grant membership to one person.
