For the 51st ISOCARP Congress ISOCARP is going back to its roots. The Society was founded in the Netherlands in 1965. This is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on planning. Many countries are struggling in the global economic crisis and urbanization is radically reshaping cities around the world. This is therefore a critical time to re-examine the role of planners and planning.

The 51st Congress will have a different format. The workshops/tracks will take place in different cities all over the Netherlands and also in Belgium and Germany. For the last two days of the congress participants will come together in Rotterdam.

General Rapporteur of the Congress, Judith Ryser from UK, writes the following:  ISOCARP congress themes illustrate how often ISOCARP has been at the forefront of the planning debate, and in the ISOCARP tradition the 2015 congress is truly innovative.
