ISOCARP proudly announces the initiation of the ISOCARP Institute as a “Centre of Urban Excellence” and formal body for generating, documenting and disseminating knowledge for better cities (https://isocarp.org/institute/).
The Institute is envisioned as a world class knowledge bank and think tank for planning excellence empowering individuals, organizations and institutions to achieve better human settlements.
Among the Institute’s objectives are strengthening cross-border collaboration globally; upholding professional excellence in planning; advancing sustainable planning; increasing awareness of major development trends and promoting best practices. Its core function includes designing and delivering capacity building and continuing education programs; conducting research and promoting knowledge transfer; as well as offering advice and short term consultancy services to government, non-government and international bodies worldwide.
The Institute is governed by a Board of Directors, the board formulates the policies and principles governing the Institute’s activities, structure, programs and budget and meets at least twice a year.
Ex-officio members on the Board are the President, the Vice President of the Institute /Academic Development and the Secretary General.
Two other members will be selected from the wider membership – one from the Scientific Committee and one from the full membership. Nominations or self-nominations are invited, with only a HALF-PAGE statement explaining the qualifications and experience of the nominated candidate, and why they would be suitable to serve on the Board of the Institute.
The deadline for submission of nominations is 29 April 2016. The final selection will be made at the EXCO Meeting in May.
