Call For Local Congress Team Members

In consultation with the Local Organising Committee, the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) is accepting applications for Local Congress Team members for its 58th ISOCARP World Planning Congress (WPC), taking place in Brussels, Belgium, on October 3-7, 2022. The Congress Team will be led by the General Rapporteur of the 58th WPC, Professor Zeynep Enlil.

The Congress Team will be composed of both international and Local Congress Team Members who will chair the Congress tracks and jointly develop Tracks, Special Sessions, and Roundtables on this year’s Congress theme, “From Wealthy to Healthy Cities” with the Local Organising Committee. Please refer to the Congress Announcement for an overview of the Congress theme and proposed sub-themes.

Responsibilities of the Congress Team
Local and international Congress Team members will be assigned to chair Congress tracks, and will have important joint responsibilities, including:

  • Develop and prepare track sub-themes and descriptions
  • Review and select paper abstracts and submissions; and case study and session proposals
  • Prepare introductory track report and presentation together with the Congress Team
  • Coordinate track session and workshop content with presenters and speakers
  • Attend Congress and chair in-person and hybrid track sessions and workshops
  • Summarise and present track results at the Closing Plenary of the Congress
  • Help prepare written track summary for the final report following the Congress
  • Participate in the paper selection process for the final report

Your local perspective will ensure meaningful knowledge-sharing and connections to the local host city that will be integral to the quality of the Congress.

Your Benefits
Congress Team Members will receive a free Congress registration as well as acknowledgement and visibility in all Congress publications; travel and accommodation expenses, however, are not covered and will be the responsibility of the Congress Team member. By applying for this role, applicants understand that this position is voluntary work (without monetary compensation), and requires commitment leading up to and until the full delivery and completion of the 58th WPC in Brussels, Belgium.

Eligibility Criteria
Congress Team members are expected to have interest, experience and knowledge related to the Congress theme and reside in Belgium. The General Rapporteur will select and assign Congress Team members to the tracks, sessions and roundtables that best align with their experience and professional background. In the Congress Team member selection process, candidates’ qualifications and experience will be considered, as well as the gender balance and diversity of the overall Congress Team.

In your letter, briefly describe your interest, qualifications and experiences related to this year’s Congress theme.
