Award for Excellence

The ISOCARP Award for Excellence (AfE) rewards plans in the design phase as well as projects in progress or already implemented and is open to a wide range of professionals and institutions operating in the domain of urban and regional planning. Participants are invited to submit different tools used in planners’ daily practice: normative plans, strategic plans, urban projects, programmes, policies, research works, software, smart tools facilitating planners, etc. This prestigious award is bestowed in two categories: Grand Award and Merit Award.

Gerd Albers Award

Gerd Albers Award (GAA) was established in 1999 in honour of professor Gerd Albers, a co-founder and past president of the Society, who placed a particular emphasis on the task of publishing as a means of elucidating both the current debate and practical achievements in the planning field. This reputable award is bestowed for the best publication (book, book chapter, journal article and/or published project report) of the ISOCARP members.

Student Award

The Student Award (SA) addresses a bachelor and/or master student or student-group with outstanding results in a related field to urban and regional planning. As a form of ISOCARP’s recognition of the efforts by future planning professionals, the award is bestowed for the final design projects, theses, studio projects, etc. In 2021, a record number of 36 SA entries covering various aspects related to the broad field of spatial and urban planning were submitted.
