ISOCARP Vice Presidents Martin Dubbeling and Piotr Lorens met officials and Mr. Sergey Morozov, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region in the Russian Federation in December 2015.

In 2013 ISOCARP and the Region of Ulyanovsk have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This MoU resulted in a successful YPP workshop for Russian students in 2013. The results of this YPP workshop were presented at our congress in Brisbane. You can find this presentation on our website here.

ISOCARP and the Governor of Ulyanovsk have reached an understanding about a series of thematic interrelated YPP and UPAT workshops and an intensive training in 2016, 2017 and 2018, as well as, hosting the ISOCARP Congress in the near future. The purpose of these events is to make Ulyanovsk a better, more competitive, healthier and more sustainable city and region.

In January 2016, a delegation of the Ulyanovsk Region will meet with the Executive Committee of ISOCARP in The Hague to discuss further details and to formalise the cooperation.

Vice Presidents Martin Dubbeling will be leading this project for ISOCARP. In January he will send out calls for candidates for the workshop coordinators, team leaders and rapporteurs for the YPP and UPAT workshops. He welcomes your questions, messages of interest, remarks and suggestions at dubbeling@isocarp.org.
