At the beginning of October, the Swiss and the French members of ISOCARP spent two marvellous days in Paris together. For their annual 2017 event, the Swiss members decided to visit their colleagues in Paris. For this occasion, the French members composed a programme including the visits of urban projects and urban walks in the Paris metropolitan area. Occasional breaks and unhurried get-together gave opportunities to all participants to become acquainted and to discuss different approaches of urban planning in France and Switzerland. In particular, the French planning tool of the “Zones d’aménagement concerté (ZAC)”, giving the possibility to a public authority to acquire and, if necessary, expropriate private properly in public interest, gave reason to debate. At the end of the visit new common projects as well as new plans for 2018 were discussed. Hereby we invite and hope that other ND will come to France or Switzerland for a visit in the future.
