The workshop is bringing a new approach of people-oriented city planning in the context of the regeneration of the city centre of PinYin, located at the heart of Shandong Province. It is known as the city of roses, and has more than 3000 years of history. Its recent history has been marked by a heavy industrialisation and the city is now looking for a better liveability and to reconcile its cultural heritage with a human-friendly urban development.

During three intense days, students and young professional planners will be trained and work together on the following topics:

  • Restore the cultural identity and character of PingYin
  • Create a child-friendly environment with Chinese cultural and social characteristics
  • Integrate land use planning and transit oriented development

During the workshop, several teams of students and young planners will work together, and the results of the workshop will be reviewed and shared with the urban planning bureau of PingYin on November 19.
