The Public Spaces of Tomorrow

The public space design&planning manual is a result of the Mentor&Student Research Lab MSRL 3.0. – research project organised as a part of the International Society for City and Regional Planners – ISOCARP activities. It brings recommendations for designing the Public Spaces of Tomorrow. We dedicate them to planning practitioners, students, NGOs, local governments to create more inclusive, adaptable, walkable and resilient public spaces.

The MSRL program is a platform promoting the collaboration of urban designers including students, early careers, and professionals both from planning practice and academia with Gdansk acting as a hub for the research team’s work. The international teams, working locally, by sharing experiences, propose concepts for strategic interventions for future cities. This book presents the work format, research, and collaboration concept as well as the achievements of an intensive program that brought together experienced urban planners with young and ambitious students and PhD researchers.
